Spring?

Well it was mostly spring-like these past few days, had a chance to commute to work and felt good doing it. Had a very busy shift last night, and was very tired coming home. Bonked pretty bad, but made it to the mailboxes and Norma picked me up. The cyclo-core program has really helped me get in mid-summer form and shape already. Need to work on eating and drinking better in order to train my body to use it's reserves more efficiently. Have hit a plateau with my wt loss, stuck @ 25lbs lost this week.

Attended the monthly Big Ride meeting in Seattle last Thursday night, it was nice to meet some of the staff, past riders, and the riders that will be there with me this summer. I am getting progressively more psyched as March dwindles and Spring arrives. The fundraising is going well and have passed the 1/2 way mark. Hope to have it all but wrapped up by May so I have only the physical training to do for the last month.

Tough week!!

Well it was!!! For the first 3 days I worked 12 hr night shifts and did plumbing during the day while trying to get 4-5 hrs sleep. Damn sink clogged somewhere under the house and with much swearing and consternation, we (Jesse the boy) and I finally got it open. No time to exercise when the choice is workout or sleep. Finally had 3 days of workouts and then last night played 3 games of soccer. Work went fairly good all week, worked 5 12's in a row and ended up in charge for 3 of the 5.

Speaking of work, we had a finalist for the dumbshit award for the year (and it's only early March) 22 yr old guy who's friends DARED him to drill thru his penis with a power drill. How drunk (or stupid) do you have to be to accept that dare!!!! Well he did, and while he did not succeed in drilling thru the afore mentioned member he did manage to get the skin of his unit caught in the bit and it took about 15 stitches to close the rip!!! Needless to say the alcoholic anesthesia was not sufficient enough to help with his pain control. People never cease to amaze me!

March already!

Well, February came and went like the wind! March is here and time marches swiftly towards the summer of me riding across the good ole' USA. The training program is going well, feeling stronger and am 25lbs lighter! Fundraising is well under way and have reached almost 1/2 way towards my goal. Any extra donations would be much appreciated!!! Please feel free to click on the link noted, to help out. The weather is still real sketchy here in N. Idaho, it can't decide if it is spring or still winter. Wish it would make up it's mind so I can start commuting the 20 miles to work.

Speaking of work, I was the Charge Nurse last week when a extremely intoxicated mid 60's y/o lady brought her dauchshound mix dog into the E.R. because it's labor was not progressing and only 2 of the 4 puppies had been born and she wanted us to do a c-section in the E.R.. After a lengthy discussion on why we couldn't do it...it is a (Human) hospital afterall, we called an emergency Vet clinic and arranged for her to take her doggy there. Boy, we just never get enough strange shit happening!!!!!
